Peel & Stick PVC Backsplash Installation
How to Install Peel and Stick Backsplash Tiles?
Tools you'll need:
- Ruler
- Utility knife or tin snips
- Pencil to mark the wall if needed
- Sandpaper
- Dish detergent and water (for tile reposition purpose, details in the step 4)
- No saw or heavy-duty tools required
Step 2: Measure the area. It's recommended to layout the entire project on a flat surface before putting the tiles on to the wall - make sure you have enough tiles and your design is correct. Using a chalk line or level, create at least one vertical and one horizontal reference lines to guide tile placement.
Step 3: Cut the tiles (If needed): There are 2 ways to cut the tiles depending on how you want the tile turns out.
Method Ⅰ: Use a utility knife to cut along the seam line between each piece, or score through the tile then snap mannually. Please refer to the below video for step-by-step instruction.
Method Ⅱ: Use Dremel/chop saw/band saw if need to cut through tiles.
Step 4: Peel and Stick. Remove the film backing from both sides of the tile. Lightly place the tile onto the wall using your reference lines. Do not apply pressure to the tile until you are sure of your placement.
🚩Important tip: The backing adhesive is so strong that once you press the tile against the wall, it'll stick to the wall firmly, hard to resposition. However there is a technique to save you from the problem: Fill a 500ml-750ml bottle with water and 1-2 teaspoons of mild dish detergent. Spray a small amount of the mixture on the adhesive after removing the film and spread it with your hand over the whole surface. Adding the liquid will allow you to perfectly adjust the tile on the wall by delaying the adhesion process.
Step 5: Reinforce. Use a laminate roller to make the tiles stick firmly to the wall.
There are some installation tips:
- First, make sure the wall is flat, dry and dust-free before installation, and then you can mark the lines of the area to guide tile placement and keep it level. Lay out the entire project on a flat surface before installation to ensure that the orientation of all tiles is consistent and your design is correct.
- We suggest that you can start the installation from the corner, just cut the two sides of the first tile into straight edges to fit the corner. You can use a chop saw, hacksaw for any necessary straight cuts, or use a utility knife & ruler make a pass with force and then snap off follow the cutting line. And you can use a Dremel/jig saw/brand saw if there is need to cut to fit the outlet.
- Do not peel off the entire liner backing at once if you do not use the detergent-water mixture, you must make sure that the first tile is in the right position because it is difficult to move it after applying pressure to the tile.
